Announcements

Announcements, announcements, announcements!
We hate them, we hate them, we hate them.
What a terrible death to die,
What a terrible death to die,
What a terrible death we’re talked to death,
What a terrible death to die.

Speak freak

I lost my cow, mooh!
I lost my cow, mooh!
We don’t need your bull / bore anymore.
So pull it in the corner, pull it in the corner.
Flowers need to grow

Have you ever seen a windbag, a windbag, a windbag,
Have you ever seen a windbag, a windbag,
Well there’s one right now.
Blowing this way and that way and this way and that way.
Have you ever seen a windbag,
Well there’s one right now.

Don’t put your junk in my ear, oh my ear, oh my ear
Oh don’t put your junk in my ear,
’cause my ear is full.

Words and words and senses, senses, senses,
Words and words and senses,
Get to the point!

Throw him out the window, the window,
The second story window
With a hi and a ho
And a mighty throw
And throw him out the window.

MCs, they never stop talking,
The longer you listen,
The longer they talk.
Some days I’ll probably listen,
But something keeps telling me:
Don’t do it yet,
Not yet, not yet, not yet, (clap)
not yet, not yet, not yet.

Talk, talk went the little MC one day,
Talk, talk went the little MC.
Talk, talk went the little MC one day,
And smash, smash, smash! (beat your fist into your hand)

We learned this song at Camp Phillips. It is rather popular with the BSA, and exists in hundreds of variations. Usually it is sung when a staff member is trying to announce some things in the dining hall. If he (willingly or not) makes the mistake to annonce this as “announcements”, he is immediately prevented from making any by a crowd of Boy Scouts singing the song, which becomes longer with every year.

Thanks to Jörg who wrote down the lyrics as he remembered them from his time as Camp Staff member, where he probably had his sorrowful experiences with this song. (It should be noted that, after Jörg and Flo, this year Philipp will be the third Stamm Lörick member who will be staff at Camp Phillips for a summer. This is becoming a more and more important aspect of the StW program.) I will most probably not try to transcribe the melody; it is taken from almost everywhere. Some verses don’t even seem to have any.
